The chair that just wants to be liked is a chair cast in pigmented alabaster plaster, its softened silhouette resembling a faceless figure offering itself openly, almost kneeling. It is made in an edition of 3 and belongs to the Maladaptive Patterns collection. It was designed to embody the people pleaser. The form is a gesture of service, of welcome, of quiet desperation to be accepted. It invites you to sit, to lean in, to use it. And beneath that accommodating posture sits the tension every people pleaser knows. Keeping others comfortable can cost you your own comfort, and the effort often stays invisible until something quietly builds. We made this chair to say that out loud. Placed in a room it works, it welcomes, it serves, and it asks a question most furniture never asks. Who is holding you up, and what is it costing them? Cast and carved by hand, each of the three is a little different, as people are.
