Living Forms

Living Forms is a collection of sculptural floor lamps, cast in alabaster plaster and carved by hand. It began in 2020 with the Lacuna Lamp, the first piece we ever made, and it still carries the question that piece asked. What happens between mass and emptiness when light is the thing that decides.

Each lamp starts as a rough cast that we carve until the surface begins to resemble patterns found in nature, marbled, diverse and never quite predictable. Where the collection is pigmented, the colour is worked tone on tone through the material, so it belongs to the form rather than sitting on it.

These are lamps made for slow rooms. The light is low and inward, there to settle a space and the person in it. Each one is carved by hand in a limited edition, and each keeps the traces of its own making.
