Kadō Collection

Kadō is our collection of ikebana vases, shaped in ceramic and fired in bisque without glaze. The name is the Japanese word for the way of flowers.

We think of these vases as quiet partners rather than vessels. Each form came out of long experiments between shape and arrangement, looking for the point where the vase and the plant hold each other in balance, with the empty space given as much weight as the stem. A single dried branch is often enough.

The unglazed firing keeps the full texture of raw ceramic, and we recommend the vases for dry plants. Each one is made by hand, and no two are the same.
